The system includes barriers and handrails; these are deployed at the edges of the working area and can be used to construct temporary walkways for safe access to a particular point on the roof, for example to repair a skylight or a chimney.
PREVENTING FALLS THROUGH FRAGILE ROOFS
For work on fragile sheet roofs such as general roof maintenance, repairing or cleaning skylights and gutters are some of the tasks that require quick, easy and most of all safe access to roofs. A lot of industrial roofs for example are fragile and require special attention. Although skylights can be seen in daylight from below, the hazard is that they are often brittle and are hidden from view by moss and grime on the roof. If no protection is deployed, then accidents can happen. The Oxford Safety trellis mats on strong support frames prevent falls through fragile sheet material and brittle skylights.
FRAGILE ROOF SYSTEM
The TreadLite system is a lightweight, fall arrest temporary working platform. Formulated with aluminum, the system is designed to be used when performing reactive work on fragile roofs. The system is easy to use and very adaptable, with the different components of the system being able to be used independently for many different fragile roof issues. If the roof sheeting is strong, then falls through skylights can be prevented by fitting steel spars across the purlins and locking trellis mats over them. If work is required up on the roof, then several frames and mats can be deployed to cover the work area; this can then be disassembled and re-deployed for the next part of the roof.
