A global company established in 1902, known for its extensive range of lifting solutions such as cranes, booms, telescoping cranes, and tower cranes, reached out to us.
They offer support to customers around the world, including the sale and rental of both new and used equipment, along with various training programs.
This fleet consists of a diverse range of vehicles and heavy duty plant based machinery that require maintenance underneath, making an inspection pit a crucial feature for the depot. However, after an evaluation by their Health and Safety Manager, the pit was found to be hazardous, and the existing safety barriers were deemed not adequate enough to prevent a fall.
We were invited to their facility in Buckinghamshire where their fleet of mobile cranes are maintained to evaluate the area and propose a safer alternative from our range of innovative fall prevention and safe access work platforms.
Following our site visit, we identified an open vehicle inspection pit measuring 15 meters, which was largely exposed and only marked with temporary demarcation tape.
It was clear that our PitProtect system was the perfect solution.
The PitProtect system sits within the parameter of the vehicle inspection pit preventing trips and low level falls, therefore minimising the risk of injury.
It's lightweight and flexible design guarantees that the inspection pit remains covered when not in operation, yet can be opened quickly and easily by a single engineer for access when a vehicle needs to be admitted for inspection and maintenance.

We provided a quote to supply 8 x PitProtect covers along with a complete installation service.
The customers approved our suggested solution, and within a week, two members of the OSC team visited the site to install the required systems.
The installation of the new PitProtect covers greatly improved the area, making it noticeably safer and providing instant peace of mind to the team at the depot.
One staff member's remark resonated with us: "It’s great to see that we have this pit protected now."
