The History of PitProtect:
Our inspection pit cover was first developed in 2010 in the same way many of our products were – through customer request. A customer saw our trellis mat and wanted to use them to protect their operatives who were working in and around inspection pits.
The concept was good, but we knew we could do better. So we sat down and developed the PitProtect, a concertina style inspection pit cover that expanded in length and width- because inspection pits come in all shapes and sizes (and that’s just 1 pit sometimes).
The PitProtect was designed to do two things; keep operatives safe by preventing falls into inspection pits and voids when servicing vehicles; and provide a working platform that supports the weight of operatives and their tools. With ease-of-use at the centre of everything we design, the PitProtect Inspection Pit Cover is ready to go with no training needed.
The PitProtect 1500:
As the popularity of the PitProtect grew, so did the demand for other width sizes- we started off with a 1100mm wide cover and quickly released the 1300mm width-option shortly after. But we soon realised that bigger was needed. Coaches, busses, trains & larger vehicles often have wider pits, so we went back to the drawing board and developed our widest pit cover yet.
The PitProtect 1500 has adjustable bars on each side which can take the PitProtect from 1300mm to 1500mm in width- ensuring a perfect fit every time. The cover extends up to 2m in length and is formulated using premium aluminium.
With adaptability at the core of its design, the PitProtect inspection pit cover can easily be fitted around lifting jacks, simply position the jack at it’s optimum position in the pit and install the covers around it. When it’s time to move the jack, slide the covers to either ends of the pit and your jack is free to move around!

The covers were tested using appropriate sections of various standards, to establish a thorough product testing programme that demonstrates suitability and safety for the intended use. Not wanting to stop there, PitProtect products are also DEKRA approved.
